For some time now, Microsoft itself has been telling us about the benefits and advantages of using its Windows optimization application, PC Manager. We are talking about software that wants to compete with other similar solutions that have been accompanying us for years to improve the operation of the operating system.

Here we find a powerful program available directly on the official windows store, the Microsoft Store. You could say that it is a relatively new program that is currently becoming known among users around the world. But as with many other platforms and applications from this company, PC Manager is generating a lot of controversy among many users.

In principle it is a utility of Windows optimization and tuning. In addition, it is worth knowing that it is free and you can download it directly from this link. But despite its usefulness, many question much of its advice and messages. However, in other applications from the same firm we have found ads that recommend it. We are referring to Windows itself, in the Office productivity suite, or in the browser edge.

And now we are going to talk to you about a new controversy that is appearing in this optimization program by default. We tell you this because as of the most recent update of the application, Microsoft PC Manager users find themselves with a strange warning message. And all those who have changed the Edge search engine to something other than Bing are told that something is wrong with the operating system.

PC Manager warns you if you don’t use Bing in Edge

To give us an idea, the advice appears in the newly added section Repair Tips of the PC Manager utility. This warns users that the initial configuration of Edge has been changed, and that we should fix things in the operating system.

Without a doubt, this is a measure that could generate enormous controversy among many users who prefer to use another search engine in the browser, for example Google. Due to this notice, on the one hand, it is possible to consider that this is a security measure. It may be the case that the warning helps users be aware of unwanted changes to their system.

On the other hand, something more controversial and predictable, is that this is another example of how Microsoft uses unclean tactics to promote its own products.

Although it does not say it clearly, it suggests that we must repair the Windows operating system when changing it. Bing search engine in Edge, which implies that the system is damaged. Obviously, this is a change that will not affect the operation of Microsoft’s own software at all, hence the annoyance that this message causes in many users.

What there is no doubt is that these types of notices, if they are actually promotional, do not benefit the use of applications such as PC Manager.
