It is worth knowing that we will have the possibility of exchanging other content such as documents, photos or videos. Taking into account that we use WhatsApp in both personal and more professional environments, privacy and security here is becoming increasingly important.
At the same time, malicious actors are fully aware of the widespread use of this application, they try to deceive us through it. Many of you have already gotten used to receive text messages and even calls in clear scam attempts from unknown numbers. The usual thing in these circumstances is to receive a new chat from a foreign number trying to contact us.
Most likely, sooner or later, even if the conversation seems friendly, we will end up asking for personal information or even money. This is an increasingly common and widespread practice that ends up becoming a nuisance.
Block phone number chats
It is worth mentioning that the messaging application does not offer us a specific function of prior blocking of numbers or prefixes. However, we can carry out this privacy and security action when we receive a new chat from a number that we want to block as such. Thus, the moment we receive a message from a foreign or strange number that does not convince us, we will configure WhatsApp so that he doesn’t show us anything else about it again.
Once we access that unwanted chat, we click on the menu that is represented by 3 vertical dots. Next we go to the More / Block option.
From that moment on we will not receive any more messages of that automatically blocked number. This means that the application itself, when it detects a new chat from that source, will not show it on the screen. Obviously, this is a process that we can repeat with as many numbers as we want or need.
Block unknown calls on WhatsApp
It must be taken into account that for some time now we have had the possibility of making and receiving calls through this messaging platform. You will also be interested to know that we can configure the application so that automatically block calls that we receive from unknown numbers.
Surely on many occasions they had received strange calls from these numbers not included in our agenda and that we want to get rid of. To do this we only have to access the application settings again. Next we click on the option called Privacy and locate Calls.
In the new section that appears we will now have the possibility of activating this function that we mentioned and thus block all calls that come from unknown numbers. Only calls through WhatsApp that are made from our contacts that we have previously added will reach the mobile terminal.
