Most of you have been able to see first-hand the efforts that Google makes to improve one of its main projects, the Chrome browser. However, the changes introduced here do not always convince everyone, as has happened with its interface.
Specifically, we are referring to the latest versions that the search giant has released for users around the world. With these new versions of the program new functions have arrived, but perhaps one of the most representative aspects has been the interface change. The problem is that we can no longer change to return to the old one.
And the new user interface that Google has proposed for its browser has been liked by very few and has generated enormous controversy. However, to date many have used the experimental functions of the program to deactivate the new interface of user, something that seems to have not pleased the company too much.
This means that after installing the new Chrome 125 The new user interface is enabled by default and we can no longer go back, even with experimental features.
However, and even though Google no longer offers us this opportunity, we refer to go back to the old Chrome interface, we are going to teach you a trick to achieve it. And the update to the browser design, which arrived in 2023, has not convinced almost anyone. Many users preferred the classic design. While previous Chrome updates allowed you to disable the new interface via experimental functionsnow Chrome 125 overrides those settings.
With this trick I use the old interface in Chrome 125
And after installing this new version of the popular browser, many users claim that they could no longer find any experimental function to return to the previous interface. But don’t worry, if you have already updated to Chrome 125 and the experimental features solution no longer works, there is another trick. This will allow you to return to the previous interface, at least temporarily.
The first thing you should do is create a direct access to the browser from Google, for example on the Windows desktop. This is precisely the one that we are going to use to start Chrome with the old interface, which is the one that interests us in this case. That is something that we must keep in mind for the trick to work, instead of running the browser as before, we will be forced to use this shortcut that we have created.
In it we are going to use a special argument on the command line that disables the new interface that we hate so much. To do this, we right-click on the shortcut and select the Properties option. Here we find several fields and we have to look at the one that says Destination, which contains the text corresponding to the program path for its correct execution.
At this point, we only have to go to the end of that text that we mentioned in the Destination field and add the following:
--disable-features=CustomizeChromeSidePanel
Now we will have to click on the button that says Apply to save the change made in the chrome shortcut. From that moment on and every time we run the browser through this icon that we place on the desktop, for example, we will be able to work with the old user interface. What we don’t know is how long this trick will last until Google ends up eliminating it.
