Something that can really cause a lot of frustration is that a web page takes half a lifetime to load. On a computer it is not usually normal, since you probably have a good internet connection, although on a smartphone it can sometimes be very exasperating. Well, you should know that Google Chrome It has a function that allows preload web pages.

Google Chrome has many features and capabilities that are normally hidden and two unknown. One of the most interesting is the ability to preload any web page in the browser. This process is prior to clicking on a specific link, which saves a lot of time.

The feature focuses on two target audiences. Those who have a slow internet connection for whatever reason and those who use mobile networks on their smartphone, tablet or laptop.

Let’s say you want to access an article on our website that is shown as suggested next to this entry. Normally, when we click, the new page loads from scratch. But, there is an option that allows you to preload this page (and other suggested ones) and have them displayed on the screen instantly.

We are going to explain how to enable this simple Google Chrome feature, which will allow you to save time while browsing.

Activate it in the PC browser

It really isn’t very complicated to activate, you just have to follow some fairly simple steps. These are:

  1. You must open the browser.
  2. Look for the three dots located in the upper right and click on them.
  3. Now, in the menu that opens, look for the “Settings” option and click on it.
  4. The next step is, in the menu on the right, look for the “Performance” option and click on this option.
  5. Now, we must go down to the “Speed” section and we must activate the “Preload pages” option.

Within the “Preload pages” option you have two options, these are:

  • Extended preload: More pages are preloaded. Pages may be preloaded through Google servers when requested by other sites.
  • Standard preload: Some of the pages you visit are preloaded.

Here it is at your discretion to choose the option that interests you most. You should know that what this function does is consume more bandwidth and processor power. This additional consumption is worth it, since it will save us time when browsing in general.

Implement it in the mobile browser

You can also enable this feature in the smartphone version of the Google Chrome browser. Without a doubt it is more necessary here, since we depend a lot on the network to which we connect. If it’s a 5G or high-speed WiFi network, it shouldn’t be a problem, but you’re not always so lucky. In addition, occasionally we may encounter saturated networks that negatively impact performance. Activating this function is simple and you just have to follow these steps:

  1. Obviously, we have to open the Google Chrome browser.
  2. We will go to the three points that we will find in the upper right corner.
  3. We will look in the drop-down menu for the “Settings” option.
  4. Once inside, we must now look for the “Privacy and security” section.
  5. Inside we must look for the option “Preload pages” and we enter.
  6. Inside here we have the options of “No preload”, “Standard preload” and “Extended preload”. These are the characteristics of each option:
    • Without preload: There is no preloading of any of the pages in the background. It allows you to save data (if you don’t have unlimited data) but loading the following pages will cost more.
    • Standard preload: It will load only the most likely pages that we can access based on our browsing history and cookies. It is possible that it reduces the access time to the page within the website that interests us.
    • Extended preload: It preloads all the pages within a website, even if we have never accessed it before. The loading time of pages within a website is faster.

If you have unlimited browsing data or connect only to WiFi networks, the best option is “Extended Preload”. If you have limited data, the best option may be “Standard Preload”.
