One of the best security practices that exists is to have a password for each service or website. The problem is that remembering all these passwords, if you combine letters, numbers and symbols, can be extremely complicated. Well, you can recover are passwords in Google Chrome if you have forgotten about them or have not memorized them.
You should know that Google Chrome (like most current browsers) allows you to save passwords. When we log in for the first time on a website, a pop-up window usually appears asking us if we want to save username and password. We all tend to accept this, as it avoids having to memorize this information, which can be complicated.
What this allows us to do is save highly secure passwords without having to memorize them. Furthermore, if you want to consult it, it is a highly simple process.

Typically, your browser only stores passwords if we tell you to. As we have mentioned, when you start a session on a website, it suggests if you want to store it. If you accept, Google Chrome saves this password and recovers it every time you use the browser.
It may be that you want to log in from your mobile, for example, and since you don’t know it, you have to recover it. Doing it is quite simple, you just have to follow these steps:
- The first step is to open the browser.
- Next, click on the three points in the upper right corner.
- Within the menu, we go to the “Passwords and Autofill” option and click on it.
- Now you must enter “Google Password Manager”.
- You will get a list of all the web pages for which the password is stored. Above you have a search engine to go directly to the website you want.
- Click on the one you want to recover.
- If you use Windows (or another operating system) with a password, PIN, or other access method, you will be asked to enter it. This is a measure to prevent unauthorized access.
- You enter the password, press Enter and access the panel of the website in question.
- You will see the username and the hidden password, you simply have to click on the eye to show you the password.
You can do this process with all the web pages in the list that appears. If the website from which you want to recover the password does not appear, it is possible that you once denied its storage. This way you will not be able to recover it and you will have to generate a new password using the recovery method.
If you never see the message asking if you want to store your password, in that case, follow these steps:
- Do not close the “Password Manager” tab.
- You must go to the “Settings” option.
- You have to select the option “Ask if I want to save passwords” if this is not selected.
- Also, make sure the “Sign in automatically” setting is turned on.
This function will ask us every time we log in if we want to store the password. This way we won’t need to remember it and it will always be available to recover when we don’t remember it. A very interesting function that saves time, although it is not the most recommended.
