In recent weeks, the guys from Meta seem to have gotten the ball rolling and are launching new WhatsApp betas for both iOS and Android, without forgetting the version for Windows and macOS.
The new function that WhatsApp is testing is found in the latest beta available for iOS with version number 24.12.10.77 and is now available to all iOS users who have access to the beta of this application through TestFlight.
This new feature adds new topics personalized for the application’s chats and thus allow users to adapt the background of their conversations to the wallpaper they use or simply to use the colors they like the most.
New themes to customize the chat background
For several years now, WhatsApp has allowed you to use up to 30 solid background colors to personalize the application’s chats. In addition, it also offers a large number of images to add a background photograph, backgrounds classified as light and dark. And obviously it also allows users to use any picture that they have in the gallery of their devices.
As we can see in the image above from WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is working to add new options to customize the application’s default wallpaper and that will add to the default green color that has been with us for more than a decade.
WhatsApp began testing this new customization option a few months ago with 5 backgrounds, a number that, with the launch of the new update, has increased to a total of 10.
In this way, WhatsApp considerably expands the range of customization options for all chats by default, without the user having to go, chat by chat, changing the background.
It is important to note that we are talking about the app customization themes, that is, the themes that the application will show on our mobile. In this way, the recipient of our messages may use a completely different configuration than ours.

As we mentioned above, last month, WhatsApp began implementing this new customization option in the iOS version. Almost a month later, it has gone from 5 to 10 topics. 10 themes to customize the background of the application’s chats is more than enough to cover the needs of most users, so it is possible that the public release is closer than one might think.
When will it be available?
However, we are entering the summer, so it is likely that part of the application development team has begun to enjoy the corresponding vacations, vacations that could affect the implementation of this new feature and not arrive until early in the year. September at best.
