Microsoft periodically releases new updates for Windows, updates that don’t sit well with all computers. In addition, it also takes advantage of the Microsoft Store to launch updates to some of the programs available natively in its operating system, updates that, like those of Windows, do not always work correctly on all computers.
With the release of the preview version of Windows 11 24H2many users suffered a large number of problems of all kinds, so the Redmond-based company was forced to withdraw it and relaunch it a few days later.
Personally, I installed that update when it was first released at the end of May and I have not had any of the problems that many users reported, this being a clear example that some updates do not suit all computers.
This is because not all PCs share the same hardware as if it happens with macOS, where these types of problems also occur.
Windows Photos app won’t open
Microsoft’s latest problem related to an application comes from the Photos application, an application that, on some computers, has malfunctions when opened, either directly or by opening a photo and video using the mouse context menu.
Microsoft has studied the problem and has concluded that it is found in the release of the latest update for this application available through Microsoft. Specifically, we are talking about the update released on June 4 with version number 2424.11050.29009.0.
According to Microsoft, this problem occurs on computers where there are several user accounts and one of them has limited ability to install applications, even if they are from the Microsoft Store, and is related to group policies.
As it is related to group policies, this problem does not affect home users who use Windows Home, since this functionality is only available in the Pro versions, a version that is increasingly used in the home environment, especially by users. users who use a PC to play games or edit videos, as it allows them to get more out of better team performance.
This issue affects users who have the update 22H2 and 23H2 of Windows 11 and, although, at this time, there is no solution to the problem, Microsoft states that it is already working on solving the problem, a solution that will reach computers in the form of an update to the Photos application available in the Microsoft Store.
It’s not the only problem
To this problem related to the Photos application, we have to add another problem related to the application mobile linkan application that, despite running in the background, consumes high CPU resources.
Another problem, which we have also talked about in SoftZone recently, is related to shared folders. OneDrive that have become Internet shortcuts. Fortunately, Microsoft is aware of these errors and has been working for several days to solve both problems.
If you are using the preview version Windows 11 24H2you are probably also experiencing this problem with the Photos app, as well as those related to the Mobile Link app and OneDrive, so it is not a problem with that version, but with these apps.
