No one can deny that Photoshop is the perfect tool for capture in digital format any idea we have in our heads, thanks to the high number of functions it offers, although most of these, if not all, are not easy to use if we do not have basic knowledge of the application.
If you are creating a poster, pamphlet, document and you don’t want to use the classic text in linear formatThanks to Photoshop we can give it the shape we want, whether in a wave shape, circular, inclined or any other format.
In this article we are going to show you the steps you must follow to apply the wave effect to text in Photoshop, who speaks a text, whether it is a paragraph or a simple line or even an image.
How to create a wave effect in Photoshop
If we want to add this effect to an image we have, first of all, we must open it in Photoshop. But, if we want to create this effect to use with another application, we must create a blank canvas with the measurements we want the text to have (to avoid quality, it is advisable to make it larger than the size we need to avoid losing quality).
The first thing we are going to do is write the text we want to work on. To do so, we go to the toolbar and click on the option Horizontal text tool. If we want to work with vertical text we can choose the second option.
Next, we go to the canvas and create a box where we will write the text we want to shape. With the text already created and with the layer selected, we press the right mouse button and select the option Convert into smart object.
Next, from the Edit menu, we select the Free Transformation option. Next, we place the mouse over the text (which is now an object so we cannot edit the content) and press the right mouse button to select the option Deform.
Now, we go to the top of the application, just below the application menus and where the option is located Deform with the default Arc option. Click on the down arrow to display all the available options.
Since the option that interests us is to create a wave effect, we click on Wave, located in the third options panel. At that moment, the text (remember that it is now an intelligent object) will change its shape to that of a wave.
If the displayed result does not quite satisfy our needs, we can adjust the waviness of the text. To do this, we must press the square shown in the text to change the shape of the wave so that, instead of starting from bottom to top, it goes from top to bottom, as we can see in the following image.
Once we have created the text we want with the wave effect, it is time to save the project. If we want to take advantage of the fact that we have used the transparent background, we must save it in PNG format, since it will not allow it to be placed over any image or background color.
