The new Vivaldi makes me consider starting to use it and forgetting Chrome and Edge

Whenever we talk about a browser, we have to talk about resource consumption. Chrome is a real resource eater when we start opening tabs, which, in the long run, becomes a serious problem for the PC, since the more tabs we have open, we will notice how the number of free resources is reduced.

In recent years, Google seems to be swinging with its browser. Since Microsoft launched Edge based on Chromium, the browser from the company founded by Bill Gates has added a large number of functions aimed at improving user interaction when searching.

Furthermore, as it is the native Windows browser, the resource consumption is much lower than that offered by Chrome, so, as I have commented in other articles, I have converted to Edge and doesn’t want anything to do with Chrome. However, Chrome and Edge are not the only browsers that we can find on the market.

Vivaldi is a browser that little by little is gaining the love of users thanks to the large number of functions that are added with each new update.

What’s new in Vivaldi version 6.8

With the launch of version 6.8 of this browser, a new function was introduced that allows you to know the RAM memory consumption in real time of each of the tabs that we have open.

To know the memory consumption of each browser tab, all we have to do is hover over the tab.

Knowing this information is very important when the computer is short on resources or when we see that a certain web page is taking much longer than normal to load the content since it may be related to a performance or compatibility problem.

This is not the only new feature that has been added to the latest version of this browser. Continuing with the topic of tab management, with version 6.8 Vivaldi allows create workspace to group the tabs and organize them by theme so that it is easier to access the ones that interest us most at all times without having to go tab by tab.

Also related to tab management, we find a new function intended to prevent us from opening the same tab with the same content. If we do a search on the Internet and we already have the result shown open, a message will appear next to the URL inviting us to switch to this tab.

Avoid duplicate tabs in Vivaldi

Another new feature of this version is the possibility of import extensions from other Chromium-based browsers to make switching from a browser to Vivaldi a quick and easy process. By default, this process deactivates the extensions, so we will have to activate it one by one according to our needs.

If there is a time when we want to take a break and rest our mind and eyes, we can use the pause mode. This new mode mutes audio and hides all browser tabs and panels and displays a play button that simulates a breathing pattern.

If you want to give Vivaldi a try and see how it is an excellent alternative to Chrome, especially if your computer is short on resources, you can download the latest version from its website which you can access from here.
