The WhatsApp messaging service is available on multiple platforms, including the Windows operating system. Anyone can download the desktop version of this tool from the Microsoft Store. Maybe you have noticed that, even though you continue receiving messages on WhatsAppthey are not jumping notifications in Windows. Well, we are going to explain how to solve this problem.
WhatsApp has become the application par excellence in much of the world. Every day billions of text and audio messages are sent using this communication tool. Not only is it available on Android and iOS, it is also available for Windows and can be used directly from the browser, without having to install anything.
You may have the Windows client installed because you use WhatsApp for professional communications. Having it on the computer reduces the response time, come on, you no longer have to pick up your cell phone and see the message, plus, typing on the computer keyboard is faster. But you do not receive the notifications, for this reason, you must perform the following actions:
Check notifications in the app
The first thing we should always do is verify that the application has notifications activated. Normally, this setting is active by default, although we may have inadvertently disabled it. If you don’t have the Windows desktop version of WhatsApp yet, you can download it from here.
To verify that notifications are turned on, follow these steps:
- We open the WhatsApp application for Windows.
- We click on the gear wheel in the lower left corner, which is “Settings”.
- Let’s now go to the “Notifications” section.
- You must verify that everything is as follows:
- Show banner notifications: Always.
- Show taskbar notification badge: Always.
- Messages: Activated.
- Reactions: Activated.
- Calls: Activated.
If everything is as we explained, the notifications should appear on the screen. Something that can happen is that the operating system notifications are disabled. If this were the case, we should, at this point, move on to enabling Windows notifications. To do this we must follow the following steps:
- Click on the Windows notifications icon in the lower right corner.
- Once opened, now we must click on the “Manage notifications” option, located in the upper right area.
- In the new window, we must verify that “Notifications” are activated.
- Now, we must verify that these options are checked:
- Show notifications on lock screen
- Allow notifications to play sounds
- Next, we go down to “Get notifications from these senders.”
- Within this section we must search for WhatsApp and verify that it is “Activated.”
Once all these steps have been completed, everything should be ready and the notifications should appear on the screen. If they still do not appear, you should verify that you do not have the “Concentration Assistant” activated. You can verify this here:
- Click on the notifications icon located at the bottom right of the screen.
- Look for the “Concentration Assistant” with the moon symbol on it.
- If it is activated, it will tell us “Alarms only” or “Priority only” which limits notifications. You must press it until “Off” appears in the “Concentration Assistant.”
Now notifications should always appear. You should know that at night it is quite likely that the “Concentration Assistant” will automatically switch to “Priority Only”, as this avoids inconvenience to the user during this period.
