The first thing we must take into consideration, and that most of you know, is that Windows is a commercial operating system. One way or another we pay for its license, but despite all this, on many occasions Microsoft continues to add unwanted advertising and promotions.
In fact, this is one of the sections that causes the greatest rejection among millions of users around the world, and it is quite logical. If we were talking about free software that includes some advertisements, it makes more sense. But since we are paying for the Windows license in some of its editions, the software should avoid displaying this type of content that we do not want or need.
However, the Windows developer continues to show us certain content in the form of tips, recommendations and advertisements which most users reject. Furthermore, all this can appear in different sections of the operating system itself unexpectedly, which becomes a serious annoyance.
Remove ads and tips from lock screen
One of the sections of the Microsoft operating system, where unwanted advertising messages and advice often appear, is on the lock screen. For those of you who don’t know, here we are referring to that previous screen where we enter our access credentials before starting to work with Windows.
Here we can customize the type of information to be displayed by default and at the same time we can remove those annoying ads. To do this, at first we only have to go to the System Configuration application, which we open with the Win + I key combination.
Next we go to Personalization / Lock screen. There we just have to locate and deactivate the selector that says Show interesting facts, suggestions and much more about Windows 10 and Cortana on the lock screen.
Clear the Start menu of suggestions and messages
Apart from the lock window that we mentioned above, another of the sections widely used by Microsoft for these tasks is the Start menu. From here we normally open the programs that we have installed in the operating system to run them. We also pin those that we use the most or make use of the various options that Windows offers us.
To disable those annoying pop-up messages and recommendations that appear from time to time, we again access the Settings application mentioned before.
In this specific case we are in the Personalization / Home section. In the new window that appears on the screen we will find several selectors. The one that interests us in this case prays Show hints occasionally on startupwhich we deactivate.
Remove Windows pop-up tips
In parallel and on more occasions than we would like, Windows makes certain recommendations for applications and ways of using certain of its own services. This is something that also becomes a nuisance if we consider that we do not need any of it.
In addition, these pop-up recommendations appear at any time and anywhere in the operating system itself. All to urge us to use services and programs from Microsoft itself.
In order to eliminate this again, we go to Settings and open the System / Notifications and actions section. Now we can deactivate the Get tricks, tips and recommendations while using Windows selector.
