Premier Pro It is a tool that is used in video edition. It combines different elements, features and tools for audiovisual creations of enormous quality. In addition, it has special editing elements such as color adjustment, audio editing or effects, among others.
After Effects is a complementary tool to Premier Pro that focuses on the creation of animations and special effects. Basically, this tool is used for video compositing. To give you an idea, After Effects was the application used to create Iron Man’s interface and control panels.
Once we have a bit of the basic idea of both tools, it is time to make a brief comparison of them. Go for it.
Difficulty of use
The first thing is that Premiere Pro uses a fairly simple and intuitive interface, so starting to use this tool is relatively simple. The more we want to go deeper and the more things we want to do, obviously, the complexity will increase.
On the other hand, After Effects is a tool for creating special effects, so it is more complex to use from the start. It focuses on much more complex tasks, so its interface is more complex. Note that this tool requires a broad and constant learning phase. Many of those who work with it tend to highlight that it is an application with which to test, discard errors and learn to use it as you go.
Visual effects
Premiere Pro software focuses on editing, but allows you to create some pretty basic visual effects. It is not a tool created for great effects or very complex things. If we want to go further and create impressive effects, like those of Iron Man, we will have to use After Effects.
Actually, what we do with this tool is create effects in part of the video that we will then take to the general editing. It is, for this reason, why it is often commented that After Effects is a complement to Premier Pro. The truth is that Premier can live without this effects tool, but not the other way around.
Animations
Without a doubt, this is one of the biggest differences between both tools. Premiere Pro focuses on the production and editing phase, while After Effects on the image animation part in a complex way. Not only does it allow you to do it on video, it also allows you to do it on images.
To give you an idea, you can take any image edited in Photoshop or Illustrator and add effects to it. Using tools like riggin, puppet or parallax, you can animate any image. This is not possible with Premiere Pro, which is focused only on video.
Video edition
Within the animation Premiere Pro has nothing to do, but After Effects also has nothing to do in the editing section. This is where Premier shows its full potential, since it is the task for which this tool has been developed.
The tool allows us to edit sequences in any type of format, even supporting scenes in virtual reality or in 8K resolution. It complements very well with other applications in the Creative Cloud suite, allowing you to import graphics and special effects.
Premiere Pro integrates the Adobe Audition tool. Thanks to this element we can create, mix and edit sound without having to leave this program. Come on, a huge tool with which to do countless professional editing tasks.
