Just yesterday we told you about the launch of GPT-4o, ChatGPT’s most advanced AI language model to date. In addition to being much faster, more efficient and more natural than any of the previous versions, one of the characteristics of this algorithm is that it will be free for all users. That is, we will not have to pay the subscription to ChatGPT Plus to be able to access it. It’s great news, no doubt, but what about OpenAI’s current subscription model then?
The arrival of GPT-4o has meant an important change in the business model of OpenAI. Although we thought that this new algorithm was going to be exclusive to Plus plan users, and that GPT-4 would become free, being able to access the new version 4o without having to check out has surprised us all.

But it is not the only change that has been made to the business model. And there are many other functions that, until now, were paid and have become available to everyone without having to pay. For example, we can now take advantage of multimodal interactionswhich allow us to analyze data and generate graphs based on the content we request.
The experience of using files and photos with AI is also improved, AI is given memory to remember past chats and speak to us based on them, and users are allowed to access the GPT Storethe store from which we can download much more powerful custom GPTs.
ChatGPT Plus: the exclusive benefits
Until now, the Plus subscription was necessary to be able to enjoy GPT-4 and the latest versions of the language model. If we didn’t check out, we could only access ChatGPT 3.5a version that, honestly, has become obsolete.
Although GPT-4o is now free for everyone, that doesn’t mean ChatGPT Plus doesn’t make sense. If you tend to use AI a lot, this subscription ensures that you can access it even during times of high workload (known as priority access). In addition, this subscription offers a greater number of interactions per hour, in addition to giving its users access to the latest news and improvements to the service, such as, for example, the new advanced voice mode.
We can also see that paying users have the ability to generate images with Dall-E, and access to the original GPT-4 algorithm, which is still useful and necessary in certain circumstances.
Is ChatGPT worth paying for?
ChatGPT Plus is priced at about 25 euros per month in Spain, after applying the currency exchange and the corresponding taxes. It is not cheap, but quite the opposite, especially if we compare it with its closest rival, Gemini, which for 20 euros gives us access to the most advanced AI, in addition to other benefits of Google One.
As for whether or not it is worth it, it will depend on each person’s use. If you use it very sporadically, clearly not. But in professional environments, when it is used quite intensively, we should pay the subscription, not only to support the company, but to ensure that we will always have a reserved space within the servers and, in addition, access the latest improvements to come.
