The Enlace Movil application allows you to create a wireless connection with any Android and iOS smartphone. Perhaps the most interesting aspects is that it offers us the possibility of viewing notifications from Windows, answering phone calls and even transferring images from the photo gallery. Additionally, it allows you to control media playback, adjust volume, and do not disturb settings.

Unfortunately, the advanced features of mirroring phone screen, clipboard sharing and opening phone apps on PC are limited to Samsung smartphone, mostly. This makes the Enlace Móvil application limited and many look for an alternative, the best being KDE Connect.

Download KDE Connect

This application is open source and, therefore, completely free. Something interesting about this application is that the connection is bidirectional. Thanks to this application we can monitor and control the smartphone from the PC and vice versa.

If you want to use this application, you should know that you can download it from the Google Play Store (from here), the Apple App Store (from here) and through the Microsoft Store. We can even download it for computers with MacOS from the official application page. So we can use it on any device without major problems.

Getting started with KDE Connect

We are going to accompany you in the installation and pairing of devices. This is pretty simple to do:

  1. Download it on the two devices you are going to connect. In our case, a computer with Windows and a smartphone with Android.
  2. As soon as we open the application on both sides, our devices will appear. We will see how the Android device appears in the Windows application and vice versa.
  3. We click on both sides on the device we want to connect. We have clicked on pairing on Windows and then clicked on pairing on Android.
  4. A “link requested” will appear with a password and the option to “Accept” or “Reject.” Obviously, we are going to click on the “Accept” option.
  5. Now we should see on both sides that they are connected and a lot of possible options.

There are many options that appear natively, such as sending files, remote presentation, running in order, sending to clipboard, multimedia control and others. But, some features require additional permissions, which is great for security.

KDE Connect Configuration

The application allows us to make a lot of different configurations and adjustments. In both the smartphone and Windows versions we can easily make settings for using the application.

Within the Windows version, to access the settings, we must click on the three dots that appear in the upper right corner. The “Plugin Preferences” option will now appear. Here we can make different settings, such as deactivating certain functions or limiting the capabilities of some options.

We will also have to make adjustments on the smartphone to enjoy all the options. We see how a message tells us that “Some add-ons need permissions to work.” When we click on each of them, it describes what we are going to activate and whether or not we want to activate the function. Some will simply tell us “Accept” or “Reject” and others will tell us “Open preferences”, since they require specific permissions in the smartphone’s operating system.

Obviously, we can revoke all these granted permissions whenever we like. It is a very easy-to-use application that offers great versatility. Even in the three points in the upper right corner, on our smartphone, we can click “Unlink.”
