Nowadays, if we talk about mobile devices, we have to talk about iOS and Android. Until a few years ago, we also had to add Windows Phone, a Microsoft operating system for mobile devices that was available in the Lumia range after the purchase of Nokia’s telephone division by Microsoft and that disappeared from the market with the arrival of Satya Nadella as head of Microsoft.

Windows Phone was a perfect operating system, it had everything that any user who uses both a Windows PC and a smartphone could need, however, Microsoft’s little or no interest in promoting it in the market was the first nail in the game. his coffin.

Since then, Microsoft has done its best to offer its extensive ecosystem of applications and services on both iOS and Android, with the latter being the one that has given it the most freedom. Today, all Microsoft products and services are available on both operating systems.

Due to the freedom associated with Android, Microsoft has had the possibility of creating an almost perfect integration with Windows through the Mobile Link application, a native Windows 10 and Windows 11 application with which we can make and receive calls, read and answer text messages, WhatsApp, Telegram among others, download photos from your mobile phone to your computer and even use your smartphone camera as a webcam.

This application, previously known as Your Phone, continues to receive love from Microsoft and regularly adds new functions such as allowing you to recognize the text of an image stored on the mobile or even locate the phone to which the device is associated, without having to use the Google Find my device function.

Find your Windows phone

I have been working from home for many years, long before the coronavirus pandemic, so I have adapted my work routine to not depend on the phone for absolutely anything. I only use the phone when I am going to be away from the computer for a long period of time, whether to go shopping, walk the dog or take a walk to stretch my legs.

When I get home, I usually put my phone in the first spot I see and continue working. How can I from my computer access all contentnotifications, calls and more from my mobile using the application mobile link, I don’t miss my cell phone until I have the need to use it again to leave the house. This forced me to use the Google function via the web to ring my cell phone.

However, until I discovered that the Mobile Link app also included that feature, it took me less than 1 second to ring my phone to quickly locate it in my house. This feature is available within the main screen of this application and, as soon as I press it, my cell phone starts ringing so I can locate it quickly.

Find mobile with Mobile Link

In order to use this application with Windows, it is necessary download it to your mobile phone and link both the mobile and the PC. Both devices connect via Bluetooth for calls and via Wi-Fi for everything else. The configuration process requires a little time since we must give the application a large number of permissions in order to be able to manage our entire phone from Windows.

For the concerned about privacy, it is important to note that the permissions are related to access to the call function, their history, messages, the camera roll and even the camera in order to use the mobile phone as a webcam. This application, unlike others available in the Play Store, does not require any strange permissions for data or functions of our mobile that we are not going to use.

If you want to start using Mobile Link, all you have to do is open the Mobile Link application and follow all the instructions to download the application on your Android mobile by scanning a QR code and use the same Microsoft account on both devices.
