However, there are many users who consider that these preinstalled programs They are nothing more than a hindrance. They think that UWP software takes up valuable space on disk drives and they will never use it. They prefer the use of certain titles that they download and install on the system by their own decision.
In parallel, we find many others who appreciate this measure by Microsoft, especially inexperienced users. We must take into consideration that here we find some programs that have been with us for decades and many versions of Windows. This is precisely why millions of users have become accustomed to its use over time. But the operating system that we mention here is constantly evolving.
When will Mail and Calendar disappear
Hence, sometimes new titles appear, while others disappear permanently, at least pre-installed. In these same lines we want to focus on two of the most used, called Mail and Calendar. We talk about two UWP software solutions that have been with us for a long time and that Microsoft is going to put an end to shortly.
Basically, this means that all of you who are used to using these two pre-installed programs in Windows may have to look for another alternative. This is something that the software giant has already made public and has even provided us with the date of disappearance of both applications.
It is worth mentioning that both solutions will disappear from Windows next December 2024. In fact, we can point out that they will be available for download if we need it, from the official system store, but only until the end of the year. From that moment on we will have to choose to look for another alternative or use the solution that Microsoft itself will offer us as a substitute application.
This is Microsoft’s workaround
To give you a more approximate idea, what the software giant wants is for us to get used to using the different functions that the new version of its software offers us. mail manager, Outlook. From Microsoft’s point of view, this is the best alternative proposal after the disappearance of the aforementioned Mail and Calendar.
For some time now the company has been trying to promote and encourage the use of this application, hence the recently added improvements. After eliminating these two programs that we mentioned by default in Windows, it will add the new, recently released version of the Outlook email manager to serve as a replacement.
This means that next year we will either get used to using Outlook for management of our emails and appointments, or we look for external alternatives developed by third parties to install on Windows.
